The Situation Room Update of the COVID-19 Emergency Operation Centre in the state Ministry of Health, Bauchi State has said that two people have died from COVID-19 complications.
The first patient since March 24 when the state recorded its index case, died on May 9 while the latest ones bring the total number of deaths in the state to three.
The Situation Room Update showed that 17 more patients were discharged after they tested negative twice for the coronavirus, bringing the total number to 23.
According to the update, the total number of confirmed cases in the state is now 190, after eight new cases were recorded on Tuesday, while the active cases are 164.
Confirming the development, the Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Rilwan Mohammed, said the fatalities were recorded in Azare.
Azare has been in the news since Saturday when an ex-lawmaker, Ibrahim Mohammed Baba, petitioned the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd,), claiming over 100 people had died of COVID-19 complications in the area.
