The 15 Chinese medical experts that came into Nigeria in April are on the bill of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and are here to assist in building and equipping isolation centres.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola during a press briefing of the Presidential Task-Force (PTF) on COVID-19.
The arrival of the Chinese has been a subject of controversy with the Minister of health saying a few days ago that he does not know their whereabouts, a statement that attracted wide condemnations from Nigerians.
The CCECC is a Chinese company involved construction works with both federal government and some state across the country.
The interior Minister said the Chinese team did not sneak out of Nigeria as earlier rumoured, adding that they are still in the country due to the restriction on travel by the government to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
