Kano state government says First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc has donated the sum of N20, 000, 000.00 to the state Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19 to assist lessen the effects of the deleterious Corona Virus desolating the global community.
Giving updates on the activities of the committee in a statement, the commissioner for Information and member of the committee, Malam Muhammad Garba said that Kano Emirate Council contributed the sum of N2, 201, 000.00; KEDCO N2, 000, 000.00.
He said other donors include ; Gaya Emirate N1, 000, 000.00; while Futma Universal Concept, Danlami Maimai Rano and RCCD Royal Palace donated the sum of N200, 000.00 each.
The commissioner also announced donations of items to the committee by corporate organisations which includes Olams Grains 3, 000 cartons of Spaghetti; KEDCO 1, 500 10 kg bags of rice and 1, 500 4 litre gallons of cooking oil; Kano State Investment and Properties (KSIP) 1, 500 10kg bags of beans.
The rest, he said are Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation 1, 500 pieces of face masks and Sharubutu Intercontinental Trading Company 50 cartons of hand sanitizers.
Malam Garba urged organizations and well-to-do individuals within and outside the state to donate generously towards the committee set up to seek and collect donations in cash or kind and distribute same to those in need so as to cushion the harsh effect of the measures being taken by government against the spread of Covid-19 in Kano.
The statement added that, “anyone willing to donate to the committee in cash should pay/transfer to this account: Kano State COVID-19 Support, UBA, Account No: 1022751785, while donations in kind are also collected at a warehouse at number 94, Maganda Road and Kano State Government Printing Press, Emir’s Palace.
