One of Nigeria’s frontline social critic and political commentator, Femi Aribisala has claimed that the new President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari has blood in his hands.
Prof. Ibrahim Gambari’s was unveiled this week as the new Chief of Staff to President, replacing Abba Kyari who died of coronavirus complications last month.
Aribisala said that when late General Sani Abacha ordered the killing of Ken Saro Wiwa, the former used Ibrahim Gambari to plead with the United Nations as Nigeria’s Permanent representative, adding that the same Ibrahim Gambari opposed the naming of a New York street after the late wife to MKO Abiola, Kudirat Abiola.
Through his Twitter handle, he said= “According to the New York Times of October 5, 1997, Ibrahim Gambari, Buhari’s new Chief of Staff, opposed the naming of a New York street after the late Kudirat Abiola, who was murdered in cold blood by Abacha’s henchmen.
“As Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Gambari, Buhari’s new Chief of Staff, was the principal international apologist for Abacha’s murder of Ken Saro Wiwa and the Ogoni activists. He has blood on his hands.”
He also alleged that Gambari is not a democrat as he has in the past spoken against the return of democracy to Nigeria.
“Nigerians don’t need democracy because democracy is not food. It is not their priority now,” Aribisala quoted Gambari to have said.
