The chairman of Kano state Council of Ulamas, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil has come under serious attack for kicking against Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s decision of easing the ongoing lockdown to allow Muslim faithful observe Friday prayer and the Eid-Ftr religious rituals.

Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje last Tuesday after due consultations with the state Council of Ulamas decided to approve their request to allow Muslims observe their religious rites under strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

The governor also directed Hisbah Guards to monitor designated Mosques where prayers would hold for the Eid Ftr, so as to ensure that worshipers adhere to COVID-19 protocols such as wearing of face masks and physical distancing.

While most Muslim leaders in the state commended the governor for the decision, Sheikh Khalil opposed the governor’s directives which have attracted reactions from the public.
