The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on government at all levels as well as other employers of labour to ensure job security, incomes and livelihood.
In a message to mark the 2020 Eid-eI-fitr celebration, NLC president, comrade Ayuba Wabba, said the Ramadan holiday is not the time to arbitrarily cut down the salaries of workers or deny workers’ their means of livelihood.
He congratulated Nigerian Muslim community for the successful conclusion of the Ramadan and said that the restrictions and inconveniences imposed by the novel coronavirus has made the observation of this year’s Ramadan far more tasking and indeed, spiritually rewarding for all Muslims.
“Government at all levels and employers can make workers’ load lighter by ensuring the security of jobs, income and livelihood.
“The Ramadan holiday is not the time to arbitrarily cut down the salaries of workers or deny workers’ their means of livelihood,” Wabba said.
