Family members, friends and well-wishers today wept openly as the former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi was given private burial after Islamic rites at his country home residence located at 6th Avenue, Yemoja Street, Oluyole Estate.
Ajimobi died this week from coronavirus related complications after weeks of hospitalisation in isolation centre.
His burial rites were performed by the Chief Imam of Ibadan Sheikh Abdul Ganiyu Abubakar in line with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines for the burial of COVID-19 patients.
While sick, he hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2. He had travelled to Abuja on the invitation of a faction of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), took ill from the visit and was moved to the Lagos Isolation centre where he died.
