The Kabuga Ward Councilor of Gwale Local Government Area of Kano state, Shehu Kabuga has been arrested by the state’s Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission.
He was arrested for allegedly diverting 116 COVID-19 palliative foams meant for the vulnerable in the area.
The commission’s Director, Special Duties, Mallam Usman Bello, who confirmed the arrest of the councilor, added that Kabuga had been released on administrative bail, adding that he would soon be arraigned.
In another development, the Kano State Government has constituted a committee to interface with the coalition of labour unions in the state over a 14-day ultimatum given to the state government to refund, ‘’illegal deductions from their May 2020 salaries.
The state Chairman of the Kano chapter of the NLC, Kabiru Minjibir, who disclosed the establishment of the committee, also confirmed that the meeting would begin this week.
The union is also demanding the immediate payment of April to November 2019 salary arrears to all categories of civil servants in the state according to the agreement the government reached with the Joint Negotiating Council in December, 2019.
