The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has asked his followers not to stone Chief Nnia Nwodo anymore.
Nnamdi Kanu had ordered IPOB to stone Chief Nwodo to death wherever they saw him. Nwodo is the President -General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
He said the decision to backtrack was taken following calls from many respectable Igbo leaders who called him on that, including Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe who took him on bail when he was facing trial for alleged treason
”I received calls from some responsible people like Enyinnia Abaribe on the issue of stoning Nnia Nwodo, I hereby announce to you that the order to stone Nnia Nwodo wherever you see him is lifted off. Don’t stone him when you see him,” he stated.
It could be recalled that Chief Nwodo came under attack from Kanu when he asked Igbo youths and other pro-Biafra agitators to employ diplomacy in their quest for self- determination.
He said that Ndigbo were not known for violence and advised the youths to continue to maintain decorum and peace no matter the level of provocation.
He gave the advice when he kicked off the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives procured by the president of the youth arm of the group, Arthur Obioha, for the young Igbo not long ago.
However, Kanu verbally attacked Ohanaeze for ‘not listening to his warnings.
