Adebayo Somefun, the suspended Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, Managing Director awarded about 332 different contracts worth about N4.448 billion in one day.
Sen. Chris Ngige, the Minister for Labour and Employment made the disclosure on Tuesday before members of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the Fund.
He said the controversial contracts were awarded just two days after he left office as Minister in 2019. Ngige was however reappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari after the 2019 election.
He alleged that the suspended management committed about 74 different infractions for which they were suspended, insisting that the action taken so far against the affected officials followed due process, adding that some of the suspended officials would face disciplinary action.
