For the Igbo of South East Nigeria, masquerades, known in their language as ‘nmawu’ represents the spirit of their ancestors while symbolizing peace and justice in the community as masquerades play the role of law enforcement agents.

In order to be accepted by mortals (human beings) in the society, masquerades appear friendly by entertaining members of the community through songs and dances and in the process send messages and execute their mission which includes exposing evil people and their nefarious activities.

As is our tradition of bringing soft materials to support your weekend relaxation, we present you this unique masquerade, said to look like a well- known Nigerian.

Do you know who this masquerade looks like?
