Gearing up for political activities and membership drive towards 2023 general election, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has challenged its members, especially those aspiring to vie for elective positions to close ranks and engage in intense grassroots mobilization.
The party said such seriousness is needed if it will retain central power in 2023.
According to APC, unlike in 2015 and 2019 when the party rode to power on the persona of the president, who enjoys solid support in the North, other factors, outside the president’s credibility and support, would determine whether it would continue to be the ruling party beyond 2023.
These were the positions of the Secretary of the party’s Caretaker Committee, Senator John Udoedghe while speaking to a Coalition of the APC’s support groups, led by Mr. Frank Ossai, when they visited him in Abuja.
He said the various support groups of the party, should therefore, make themselves relevant in grassroots politics.
“History will be fair to us if the APC remains strong and not only holds the centre but makes gains,” he had added.
