Nigeria Police is now a free-for-all institution for all manner of persons as the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has suspended entry requirements for applicants who wished to join the Force as constables.

What this means is that stark illiterates and underage persons among others can now join the Nigeria police in this age and time of global best practices across the world.

The police boss made this known through a signal dated August 24 wherein he directed that no candidate should be disqualified irrespective of their physical appearance, age and qualification.

The Nigeria Police is currently recruiting 10,000 constables to address its manpower deficiency and the screening of the candidates commenced yesterday, Monday, August 24 to September 16, 2020.

It would be recalled that Frank Mba, a DCP and Force spokesman had on Thursday last week said that applicants were expected to come with their National Identity Number; original and duplicate copies of credentials, (O’ Level results); certificate of origin and birth certificate or declaration of age neatly arranged in two white flat files with recent passport photographs.

He said persons with bow legs, knock knees, bent knees, and gross malformation of teeth were barred from being enlisted into the Force.

The latest directive by the Inspector General may have made nonsense of the conditions spelt out by Frank Mba.
