As part of efforts to further enhance the operations of the Nigerian Army towards improved security in the country, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai is currently in Zamfara state where he is expected to move to other parts of the North West and North East, including Maiduguri.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari this week met with Service Chiefs where he commended them for the efforts towards the eradication of Boko Haram and other security challenges facing the country, including armed banditry, militia attacks, kidnapping and youth restiveness, among others.
The President however charged the service chiefs and heads of other security departments in the country to re-jig their internal structures as well as redouble their efforts to achieve greater success.
A source who spoke to ALSC on condition of anonymity said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratia and many top officers of the Army are already in Zamfara where he is meeting with relevant officers and other stakeholders to further boost their morale as well as brief them on new measures and tactics, going forward.
The source told us that the operations tour, expected to keep the COAS in the bush and formations for nearly three weeks would also see Buratai visiting Maiduguri and other parts of the North East.
