A black man has been arrested in the US for stabbing a white man while shouting “Black Lives Matter.”
The attack took place last week in Aurora, Colorado and the attacker, Steve Sinclair, 30, has been charged to court, accused of stabbing 29-year-old Michael Conner in the torso on Tuesday evening.
The authorities are prosecuting him for attempted murder and committing a hate crime.
Witnesses said that it was not clear what spurred the attack, adding that they saw Sinclair approach Conner and say, “I’m going to kill you and your dog.” Conner then attempted to run away and defended himself with a stick before he was stabbed.
The first police officer who arrived on the scene said that Sinclair continued saying “black lives matter” over and over again as he was arrested. The officer revealed that Sinclair had his hands up and said “I stabbed him, I’m a psychopath,” refused to sit down, and “insisted” that officers should shoot him. He was then arrested without further incident.
