… Cleric says CAMA is an illiterate law
The Founder and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM), Apostle Johnson Suleman, has warned the Federal Government not to attempt changing the church’s board of trustees.
In a video while preaching in the church, the cleric also described the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 (CAMA) as a law made by illiterates, saying you cannot appoint a stranger to become trustee in an organization he or she has no stake or knows nothing about.
He wondered how a government can, for instance, appoint a Muslim northerner as trustee of a Christian church in the name of CAMA, adding that such would lead to the death of the regulator.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had on August 7 signed the revised Companies and Allied Matters Bill 2020 into law.
The law, among others, gives the government some control over religious organisations which has generated widespread outrage, especially among Christian leaders.
In the video which a member of Apostle Suleiman’s church shared with us, the cleric was seen speaking angrily against the new law.
He said- “You can’t appoint board of trustees who have not been around, with no stake in a company.
“To say you will carry one northern Muslim to the board, you are mad,” he said.
According to him- “It is an insult. You didn’t contribute to the land, you didn’t contribute to the running of the ministry.
“For 16 years, I have been running the ministry, paying salaries, supporting widows and the poor. We will use fasting and prayer to kill you,” he said
