Although Dr. Obadiah Mailafia has said he is quitting his job at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) over the insecurity in the country and particularly in Southern Kaduna, a lawyer has told us that the former Deputy Governor with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN was forced to leave the service due to his disclosure that some repentant Boko Haram members told him that a serving northern governor is a commander of the terrorist organization.
Obadiah, a former presidential candidate made the disclosure that he is quitting his job as an instructor and directing staff at NIPSS, during an interview with a private radio station.
Also in an interview with Daily Trust, Malaifa said- “I have resigned from NIPPS. Nobody asked me or pressurized me to resign. I did it on my own. I decided that I cannot continue working, with all my good conscience, when my people are continually being killed and genocide is being committed against my people.
But an Abuja based lawyer, Ignatius Dalong told us that Obadiah Malaifa resigned due to pressure and as a condition to let him have his peace.
“You recall that the DSS had invited him many times and grilled the man over his disclosure that a serving governor is a commander of Boko Haram as he was told by some repentant terrorists. Apart from the DSS, the Police have also asked him to report for questioning and possible detention.
“These are parts of the pressure being mounted on him. He knows also that working in Kuru Jos can expose him to grave danger of organised attack and murder. So it is not true that he resigned voluntarily,” the lawyer told us.
