The name of the ship is Maerskline Stardelhorn. It berths at the Onne port in Port Harcourt, River State on Saturday, August 15, 2020 and is said to be the biggest container ever to come to Nigeria.
The ship’s birth was announced by the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, on Saturday.
The Maerskline Stadelhorn vessel with Length overall of 300 metres, width of 48 metres was received at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), at 1620 hours. It has a capacity of 9,971(TEUs) and is a flagship from Singapore.
NPA sources said the ship was diverted to Port Harcourt to decongest the Lagos ports.
