A Nigerian soldier on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, shot and killed his superior, Lieutenant Babakaka Shehu Ngorgi in Borno State.
Lt Ngorgi who got married and wedded just December last year, 2019, was making a phone call when he was shot and killed by the officer.
The killer soldier and late Ngorgi served together in the 202 Battalion of 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama, Borno State.
After the killing and following his apprehension, the soldier said he killed Lt. Babakaka Ngorgi for refusing to grant him a travel pass in order to enable him to resolve his inability to access his salary bank account.
His salary account was frozen by the authorities eight months earlier because he was accused of AWOL, Absence Without Official Leave in military terms.
He returned to his unit in Bama, Borno State and had been requesting from the deceased to give him a travel pass to enable him sort out his salary account problem, but Ngorgi refused to grant his request which led him to shoot him.
According to the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Musa Sagir, the killer is in custody and would be tried and prosecuted.
