Kano State Government has obtained speed boats for its state health workers to enable them access rural communities, especially those living in water prone areas for vaccination and other health concerns.
This was made known during the presentation of the boats by the Executive Secretary, Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Tijjani Hussain.
Dr. Hussain said, the state government deemed it necessary to employ the use of the speed boats so as to enable health workers at the primary level have access to communities surrounded by water.
The Executive Secretary who was represented by Director, Disease Control and epidemiology, Dr. Sharif Yahaya, said the gesture is geared towards ensuring that such communities are not left out in terms of vaccine and other exercises aimed at preventing outbreak of diseases in the state.
That the state government, considering the rainy season which causes rise in the state dams and other water bodies in the state, decided to provide the boats as health workers find it difficult accessing such areas with the boats being the first of its kind in the state.
Sharif stated that the people of Dawakin Kudu and Bagwai are the first to enjoy from the new development while efforts are being made to extend the gesture to other areas of the state and charge the workers to make judicious use of the boats in carrying out their primary assignments effectively.
