…As APC cancels campaign rally
Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has sent message of condolence to former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, APC’s governorship aspirant in the September election Ize-Iyamu and the APC family over the fatal accident that claimed some lives on Monday.
Many other persons were seriously injured when a trailer hit one of the vehicles on the convoy of Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo state which caused multiple crashes that damaged the car in which Oshiomhole was reavelling with.
In a statement, Governor Obaseki commiserated with the families of the victims of the crash and prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.
“While we pray for strength for the families of the deceased persons, we also pray for the quick recovery of those who were injured and are receiving treatment,” Obaseki said.
Meanwhile, the APC in Edo state cancelled its planned campaign event scheduled for Tuesday due to the accident.
The spokesperson of the party’s campaign council, John Mayaki, said in a statement that a trailer ran into the travelling campaign entourage of top chieftains of the party, including the party’s former national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, before Oluku junction, in Benin.
He said the party has also cancelled the scheduled event to honour those who died in the fatal road accident.
