Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has said that not less than 69 people have been killed in protests against police brutality and other forms of impunity.

He stated this during an emergency meeting with former heads of government which was aimed at finding ways to end the unrest.

He said after the meeting that his administration was committed to meeting the demands of the protesters, adding however that government would not fold its arms and allow criminals who had hijacked the protests to continue to perpetrate “hooliganism”.
