Although beautiful, sexy and successful, Mercy Johnson has continued to be a living proof that marriages can work even with or among celebrities.
An Ebira, from Okene in Kogi state, Mercy Johnson was born Lagos to a former Naval officer, Daniel Johnson and his wife Elizabeth Johnson.
The actress is the fourth child in a family of seven and started her primary education in Calabar Cross River state before moving to Lagos following her father’s transfer where she joined the Nigerian Navy Primary School and later to Rivers State to continue her education.
Following her completion of secondary school, Mercy Johnson auditioned for a role in ‘The Maid’ and from then on, there was no stopping her.
She has acted in dozens of movies and has been rated one of the best actresses in Nollywood with many awards to show for it.
Some of her movies include ‘Hustlers,’ ‘Baby Oku in America,’ ‘War in the Palace,’ among many others.
Among her awards are ‘Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 African Movie Award ceremony for her performance in the movie “Live to Remember,” ‘Best Actress award at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in the comedy movie ‘Dumebi the Dirty Girl.’
Mercy Johnson in December 2011 was listed as Google’s most searched Nigerian celebrity, a position she retained in 2012.
The versatile actress was appointed Senior Special assistant (SSA) on entertainment, arts and culture by Kogi state Governor Yahaya Bello and resumed duty in that capacity from April 1, 2017.
Her debut movie as a producer was ‘The Legend of Inikpi.
She is married to Prince Odianosen Okojie since 2011 and they have four children.
