Facts have emerged why a senior lecturer at the Tayo Akpata University, Ekiadolor, in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state committed suicide at his Benin residence last Friday.
Our correspondent in Benin was told by sources Saturday night that the man, Friday Orobator, a principal lecturer at the school committed the act due to piled up debts caused by none payment of salaries by the institution running into 13 months.
The later university teacher was said to have been under intense pressure from creditors and could not withstand the situation any longer, leading to the suicide.
The ugly incident is said to have thrown both his family and the entire community into mourning and confusion.
According to sources, his body was found lifeless, behind his apartment at about 1:30pm with ropes which he used to hang himself tied around his neck.
