Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Joihn Nnai Nwodo, have visited the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku/Ozalla, to empathise with injured students of the Presentation Nursery and Primary School who were involved in a road accident at Nkwo junction, Awgu Local Government Area of the state.
The accident had occurred when a truck collided with a school bus carrying pupils.
The governor who made the visit alongside other prominent Igbo leaders announced that his administration would take care of the medical bills of the affected pupils and other patients in the hospital who begged him for intervention in paying their bills.
21 persons had died when the accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon while many others who were injured are receiving treatment in the hospital.
The accident was blamed on mechanical failure on the truck.
Apart from Nwodo, others who accompanied the governor include the Deputy Minority Leader and member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu and Member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, Hon. Cornelius Nnaji.
