The Kano State Task Force Committee on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs have intercepted suspected fake drugs at two different locations in the State worth about N1million.
According to a statement signed by Hadiza M. Namadi, Information Officer, Kano State Ministry of Health and sent to African Community News (ACN), the first consignment of the unwholesome drugs was intercepted at Malam Kato motor park, while the second seizure was made at Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi market on Friday.
The seized drugs, according to the committee chairman, Pharm. Gali Sule, will soon be handed over to NAFDAC for further investigations.
“Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu IbrahimTsanyawa, reiterated the determination of Kano State Government in ensuring the availability of quality drugs in all state government owned public health facilities, and ridding the state of the menace of drug abuse and fake drugs.
“He further assured the people of the state that government has finalised plans to establish a bureau for drug abuse control and management,” the statement stated, adding that Pharm. Gali Sule called for concerted efforts by all the stakeholders to support the Government in this noble struggle.
