Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC), to mention the name of the North West governor that is bankrolling banditry and other criminalities in the geopolitical zone and other parts of Nigeria.
Tambuwal was reacting to allegation by APC that a governor is bankrolling bandits’ activities in the region.
He cautioned against playing politics with the security matters, saying that a governor doing such thing would be undermining the oath of office to protect lives and properties.
Tambuwal who is currently in COVID-19 isolation, spoke a few hours after Nabena Yekini, acting national publicity secretary of the APC, made allegation that the banditry and sundry crimes are being backed by a sitting governor.
But Tambuwal said no governor will undermine the oath of office and pledge to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. He urged security agencies to invite Nabena for interrogations on the matter, should he fail to provide evidence to back the allegations.
“He should name the governor he is alluding to as the sponsor of banditry and sundry crimes in the North-West and provide evidence that he [the governor] is involved in all of that which he alleged. Otherwise, the security agencies in the country should invite Mr. Nabena to provide evidence of his allegation, assist them in investigating the matter and make sure that justice is done,” Tambuwal stated.
