Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum last night stormed an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in the state and discovered 650 non-existent household n the list of persons and families being catered for by government.
The Governor was on a fact-finding visit to the Mohammed Goni College of Islamic Legal Studies in Maiduguri, where internally displaced persons from Abadam local government area of northern Borno were being camped.
On arrival, Zulum immediately sealed entrance to the camp and supervised a headcount to identify actual IDPs. He was shocked to discover such level of fraud in the name of IDPs,
He discovered that out of 1,000 households in the records of humanitarian officials, 650 households were ghosts while only 450 households were found to be real IDPs.
The Governor conducted the headcount in company with an official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Air Commodore M. T. Abdullahi, and two commissioners (Agriculture, and Local Government and Emirate Affairs).
