Resident doctors in Nigeria have commenced indefinite strike action to press home their demand for payment of arrears and betterment of work conditions.

The doctors commenced the strike today, Thursday, following the unfruitful outcome of their deliberations with a federal government delegation.

A statement today, by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) which was sent to African Community News, has it that- “We commence strike 8 a.m. today while we are still trying to evaluate the federal government’s offer.”

Earlier this week, NARD had threatened to commence an ‘indefinite strike’ if the Nigerian government fails to meet its demands including non-payment of allowances.
