There is palpable tension across Nigeria as the deadline given by bandits to kill 17 Greenfield university students elapse today.
The bandits who kidnapped the students last week had killed three of the and later shot dead two others.
The bandits over the weekend threatened to kill the remaining students if the ransom they demanded for is not paid by the end of today, Tuesday.
According to the parents of the students, the bandits are insisting on payment of N5million for each of the students, adding that they have refused to reduce the amount in spite of their pleas.
The parents stated this while protesting in Abuja, adding that the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El Rufai, apart from leaving them to their fate, had also warned them not to negotiate with the kidnappers.
