The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Mr. Oluremi Samuel Sola-Phillips as the Acting Director General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC). The Centre is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The letter of appointment dated June 21, 2021,Reference:FMYSD/HM/CON/O54/VOL/003, addressed to Mr. Oluremi Sola Phillips was received and acknowledged at the Gudu, Abuja headquarters of the Centre on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

The letter which African Community News obtained, was personally signed by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare and has as its title: “Appointment as Acting Director General.”

The letter reads: ”..Sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the former Director General, Mr. JB Bawa, you are to proceed as Acting Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, with effect from 18th June, 2021, pending further developments.

“You are expected to administer the CLTC according to the laws and mandates governing its operations.”

The Minister ended the letter by congratulating the Acting Director.

Meanwhile, African Community News learnt that the former Director General of the Centre, Mr. JB Bawa had last week Friday, handed over the management of the Centre to Mr. Oluremi Sola Phillips in a quite ceremony that took place at the organisation’s conference hall.

The new acting Director General of the CLTC, Mr. Oluremi Sola-Phillips was born on September 12, 1962 and hails from Lagos state.

According to insider sources, he is the longest serving staff of the Centre as at the time of his new appointment.

 

Mr. Oluremi Sola – Philips has worked in the public sector for the past thirty years. Though trained as an Accountant, his experiences span across areas such as financial management, auditing, budgeting accounting, reporting and supervision.

His years of experience in the civil service has increased his capabilities and positioned him in excellent planning and prioritization skills, strong financial and analytical skills, good knowledge of management and accounting practices as well as understanding of the process of budget and budgetary control, implementing financial and administrative control.
