No fewer than 1000 women and youths are to benefit from a N150 million worth empowerment packages in Zaki and Gamawa local government areas of Bauchi state.
The state Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed who stated this while flagging-off the Kaura Economic Empowerment programme (KEEP), said his administration is poised to ensuring the welfare of the citizens.
Bala who said his Government has in the past two years embarked on several developmental projects across the state, noted that it was high time the empowerment of the people begins in earnest across the state.
The Governor who further said that the gesture will be replicated in the remaining 18 local government areas of the state, observed that some people have started criticizing his administration for embarking on infrastructural development.
“They said my Government is paying more attention to construction of roads, hospitals, schools, provision of water among others instead of empowering the people financially, yes, but one thing they failed to understand is that, all the engineers, the labourers and workers being used are from Bauchi state, that is also an empowerment”, he said.
Earlier speaking, the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Dr. Aishatu Bala Mohammed, thanked the state government for the gesture, adding that it will go a long way in making the beneficiaries become self reliant.
She noted that, making good use of the empowerment items will help the beneficiaries enroll their children, most especially, the Girl Children to school.
African Community News gathered that some of the items distributed in the two local governments include; motor vehicles, sewing and grinding machines, motorcycles and N100,000 each to 36 beneficiaries.
