Two of the Kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Damishi, Kaduna State, have explained how they were able to escape from their abductors, saying they were sent by their abductors to fetch firewood and they used the opportunity to flee.

According to them- “On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the Kidnapers sent us to go and fetch firewood from a forest very close to where they kept us. As we were going, we noticed that they were not monitoring us; So we decided to use the opportunity to escape to the Rijana community along Kaduna – Abuja highway.”

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the development; and have said that the two students are currently undergoing medical checkup at Police Medical facility before, after which they would be re-united with their family.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, therefore gave the assurance that they are currently making serious efforts to rescue the remaining students.
