Residents of Owukpa community and environs in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State are currently in shock and apprehension following attacks by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen who are currently on a rampage, abducting residents.
It would be recalled that the suspected herdsmen in Wednesday, abducted a Catechist attached to the St Mary Immaculate Church Aho, Mr Patrick Jerome with immediate call for ransom.
The Catechist was however freed after a ransom was paid on Friday.
But more gunmen numbering about ten invaded the Aho market with heavy ammunition shooting sporadically to scare residents and whisked away wife of a popular business man, Aaron Gabriel also called Randy, to an unknown destination.
She was abducted while attending to customers in Aaron’s shop at the market. They also carted away many variables running into hundreds of millions of Naira including expensive phones and cash.
The herdsmen have contacted Aaron and demanded for N100million.
Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom has expressed shock over the incident and promised to inform the governor.
