The nearly two-year holiday enjoyed by many federal civil servants in Nigeria has come to an end, after all.
This is as a result of a circular issued Friday by the Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, directing all civil servants to resume fully in their offices on December 1st.
It would be recalled that following the outbreak of the covid-19 virus early 2020, workers were directed to stay at home to curtail the spread. Later in the year, only those on grade level 13 and above were allowed to go to office while those on level 12 and below were told not stay away.
However, the circular issued on Friday by Dr. Mrs Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, directed all civil servants to resume on December 1st.
The circular however added that all returnee civil servants must endure that they are vaccinated against covid-19 before resumption.
The circular stated that at resumption, all civil servants are requested “to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours”.
According to the circular- “It will be recalled that as part of the measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic, Officers on GL 12 and below were directed to work from home. Following the advice of the PSC on COVID-19, this category of Officers are expected to resume duties on Wednesday, 1st December 2022.”
