The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has placed the outgoing Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, on a watchlist.
This is coming ahead of the handover change of baton from the governor to his successor which would take place in March 2022.
In a letter to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service dated November 15, 202, the commission requested the service to place the governor on watchlist and inform it anytime he would be travelling out of the country from any of the international airports and other points of entry and exit.
The move may be connected to allegations of looting of public treasury by the governor who would have spent 8-years in office by Mrach.
Sources say Obiano has been under secret investigations by EFCC and therefore the plans to arrest him after the handover to Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the winner of the November 6, governorship election.
