Governors of the five eastern states of Nigeria have expressed doubt that the video, where some youths were seen beheading two Policemen originated from the region.
In the video, two policemen were allegedly killed and beheaded by people who were said to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN).
IPOB had earlier disassociated itself from the video, describing the act as horrible. It said neither it nor ESN can commit such atrocity.
But a press statement issued by Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi, after a virtual meeting of the South East Governors Forum said one of the issues discussed at the meeting was the video in question.
In the statement, the governors promised to work with security agencies to verify the trending video.
They promised that if such allegation is found to true, those behind It would be dealt with according to the law.
The statement said- “We are aware of similar videos in the past and which when subjected to forensic review were found to have happened outside Nigeria.
“We assure Nigerians, especially the Police community, that we will not rest until we have done justice to this matter.”
The Governors also weighed in on hard drugs use among youths, including Methamphetamine, locally known in South East as Mkpurumiri and rresolved to seize shops and locations where hard drugs are sold and to deal with those promoting the trade.
