After raising serious tension in Owerri, the capital of Imo State and environs, Governor Hope Uzodinma, today backtracked and failed to name sponsors of attacks and general insecurity that have bedeviled the state in some months now.

Amid expectations by prominent citizens from the state and other parts of the country, Sen. Uzodinma, at the 2022 Imo Stakeholders Meeting Luncheon, acknowledged that he promised a fortnight ago to name the sponsors of attacks in Imo.

He, however, said he would no longer name names but would leave security agencies ‘to do their work’ and prosecute those found culpable.

The Governor said many of the persons carrying out attacks in the state had been arrested.

There have several attacks and killings of people in the state, including traditional rulers while others have been kidnapped.

Most times the criminal acts have been blamed on the proscribed seccessionist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) but the group had continued to deny involvement in the killings.
